Delayed Signed Copies: Thank You for Your Patience and Support

Hey everyone,

We wanted to take a moment to address the status of the delayed signed copies to update you on what’s been happening behind the scenes. First off, to those of you who ordered signed copies of RoomMate between December 7 and February 18—thank you for your incredible patience. Chad has been facing some serious health challenges. He was hospitalized in critical condition, which put signing books on hold. The good news is that Chad is now back home, taking a few more days to rest and recover. He’s hopeful that he’ll be well enough to sign those copies very soon. Your understanding and support during this time mean the world to us. All pending orders were mailed out 2/28/25.

For those who have asked how they can help, we’ve set up a GoFundMe to assist with medical expenses and recovery. The kindness and generosity from this community have been overwhelming, and it’s given Chad something powerful to hold onto through this journey. Access Chad’s full medical video diary here.

Over the course of 2 months, Chad suffered multiple life-threatening illnesses including:

  • Arterial dissection with splenic infarction
  • Spleen abscess with Staph, E-Coli, and other dangerous bacterias with drain pump procedure
  • Abscess of liver and pancreas with drain pump procedure
  • Pneumonia lung effusion with 1/2 gallon of fluids removed

Seeing RoomMate finally come to life has been deeply meaningful for Chad. To know that so many of you are diving into his dark, twisted world—where trauma, mystery, and the complexities of a disturbed mind intertwine—has been nothing short of surreal for him. The character of Gerald, a deeply haunted yet captivating serial killer, has lived in Chad’s imagination for over a decade. Originally written as a screenplay in 2008-2009 for his friend Jason Mewes—who was looking to explore a more serious role—the project didn’t move forward at the time. Still, the story never left Chad’s mind.

After years of life experiences, countless rewrites, and his immersion in the stand-up comedy world, Chad felt compelled to revisit RoomMate, reimagining it through a female perspective. This shift not only intensified the psychological layers of the narrative but also became his proudest creative achievement to date. The outpouring of interest leading up to the book’s release has been more than just a career milestone—it’s been a reason to fight, to push through, and to keep creating.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting Chad’s work, especially during this challenging time. We can’t wait to get those signed copies out to you and share more about what’s next. Stay tuned, stay curious—and keep an eye on those dark corners.

With gratitude, The RoomMate Team
